Annotation: Among the international human rights treaties, the Convention takes an important place in bringing the female half of humanity into the focus of human rights concerns. Defining the term ‘equality’, the Convention establishes not only an international bill of rights for women, but also an agenda for action by countries to guarantee the enjoyment of those rights. Nations that ratify this convention are bound to it by international law.

Convention on the Rights of the Child

Annotation: The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is a human rights treaty setting out the civil, political, economic, social, health and cultural rights of children. The Convention defines a child as any human being under the age of eighteen, unless the age of majority is attained earlier under a state’s own domestic legislation. Nations that ratify this convention are bound to it by international law.
